Our law firm has a heavy concentration in its State Attorney General practice. For over 15 years we have represented national and multi-national businesses in Attorney General multi-state investigations and litigation.
Because we regularly attend State Attorneys General meetings and conferences, we have established and continue to maintain meaningful relationships with each of the Attorneys General and their senior staff.
We work with our clients to create solutions that will be acceptable to the Attorneys General. We understand the legal and public relations problems that can be created when the Attorney General pursues an investigation or lawsuit alleging a violation of that state’s “unfair and deceptive trade practice” statute.
The firm’s senior partner served three terms as the elected Attorney General of Maine. He was also on the Tobacco Committee of the National Association of Attorneys General (NAAG) and was awarded what is believed to be the largest civil judgment in Maine’s history — $1.4 billion. Well respected by his then Attorney General colleagues around the country, he was elected to be President of the National Association of Attorneys General, 2000-2001. The firm’s junior partner served under the North Carolina Attorney General.
When companies are investigated by State Attorneys General it is critical to understand the Attorney General enforcement of state legislative enactments. The firm’s senior partner was a two term member of the Maine House of Representatives. Our dedicated lawyers with legislative and past Attorney General experience can fully represent your company’s interest before the nation’s Attorneys General.
